Chris Guenzler of our Rail Travel Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/rtmeetup/) planned a group outing on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from Los Angeles (and points south) to San Luis Obispo and return on Martin Luther King's Monday January 20, 2014. The January 19 weather was in the 60s and sunny except for the Santa Barbara to Goleta section. The trip was about 12 hours of train riding and conversation with the group members. Surfliner trainsets have a long distance car in the consist which is less used by commuters yet much more leg room so we enjoyed the nearly-private-car accommodations.
